Univeral sovernty
by darth frosty ini was reading a thread about how the universe with its billions of galaxies and stars, is basically on hold while we wait for this lil issue of universal sovernty to be solved.
then i got to thinking, even if armegedon came this year and wiped satan out...we still have to wait on his appeal.
when you think about it the thousand year reign is essentially satan sitting on death row waiting while his lawyers work out and exhaust his appeal options.

Good thread! It's something Satan gets to 'appeal' his sentence, but what about those billions who will supposedly be slaughtered at Armageddon? Seems like a warped sense of justice.

Did Jehovah destroy millions with a flood in Noah's day?
by fish in.
jesus seemed to believe in the story of noah's flood.
i wonder if god really drowned millions of people like the bible says for simply eating and drinking and not taking any note?

DEBUNKING BIBLE MIRACLES: Joshua telling the sun to stand still
by Black Man inso, i'd love to start some threads debunking biblical miracles as the fairytale fiction that they are.
the first i'd like to start off with is jehovah supposedly making the sun stand still to allow joshua's army enough daylight to conquer the amorites.
here's a quote sentex.net explaining why this would be completely impossible:.

For the earth to suddenly stop rotating would certainly involve a major miracle. It violates the principle of conservation of angular momentum of rotating bodies, a fundamental law. The kinetic energy of a rotating body like the earth cannot just disappear; it must continue to exist; the energy needed somewhere to go. Clearly a miracle is needed, if the earth's rotation stopped, and then began again.
The earth's diameter is several kilometers greater at the equator, than at the poles, because of the effects of rotation. What would maintain the equatorial bulge, if rotation stopped?
The moon, also, cannot simply stop in its orbit; it would fall towards the earth. So a miracle was involved, to keep the moon up when it stopped, and for it to resume its orbital motion.
The ocean waters have momentum, and if the earth's crust beneath them suddenly stopped, the waters of the oceans would overflow the eastern coasts of the continents, in mighty tidal waves traveling hundreds of km per hour. This would be a catastrophe probably greater in scale than even the world wide flood of Noah's time! Similar flooding on the western coasts would likely occur when rotation resumed. But geologic evidence for such events has not been found.
The atmosphere has momentum, and if the earth's crust suddenly stopped, winds of hundreds of km per hour would cause devastation around the earth, but such drastic events do not appear to have happened, so miracles must be invoked by those who believe the story of Joshua's long day, to prevent all the widespread destruction.
For the ocean waters to remain in the ocean basins would requite the miraculous suspension of the law of inertia that applies to every particle in the oceans. Similarly, if the earth's atmosphere did not keep revolving eastward when the earth stopped, countless miracles are needed; one for every single molecule of air!

Wouldn't the predators on the ark have eaten everything by the time the 40 days was over?
by highdose inlet say noah did manage to get all the species into the ark... about half of them would have been predators and the other half natural prey.. are we going to belive that they went without eating for 40 days and nights?
or the ridiculous theory as the wt would have it that noah fed them nice tasty bales of straw which they happily munched on?.
and even if one of these two exhuses were true, when the animals were let out of the ark into a world now deverstated by a flood, then wouldn't they have continued eating eachother???

JAPAN - What happened to the JWs in Japan?
by Black Man inremember when japan was held up as the model to follow in terms of zeal in the ministry?
they used to regularly set new marks in pioneer hours and numbers.
the organization used to browbeat the work of other countries like the u.s. basically implying they were slackers compared to the japanese.

Did the internet kill the JW movement in Japan? What really happened?

My Story - Part 4
by Jeremy C inpart 1. part 2. part 3. i submitted my regular pioneer application in late 1993 so that i could officially begin on january 1st.
i knew that my application would get the rubber stamp of approval from the service committee since i had never been involved in any conduct that would prevent my appointment.. i was however slightly rebellious throughout my teens; but it was what i would refer to as a "watchtower rebelliousness".
you see, i believe that there are two forms of rebelliousness among jw youth.
